[caption id="attachment_680" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Mary Queen of Shops - Mary Portas"][/caption] Reports show that although footfall on the High Street has remained relatively unaffected, the cold, hard cash that Christmas Shoppers are parting with, this December, is the lowest it has been in years. With High Street Lingerie giants La Senza currently going under…

Commercial Property, Landlords, Nottingham

Workplace Parking Levy – ‘Small businesses and how the workplace parking levy will affect you.’

Commercial Property, Exeid News, Nottingham, Parking
Some of you may have noticed recently Nottingham City Council quietly slip a leaflet on the Workplace Parking Levy through your letter box. The unpopular scheme is an attempt by the Council to create funding for an extension to the existing tram system, the redevelopment of Nottingham Railway Station and supporting the Link bus network. The leaflet is aimed at employers who provide 10 or fewer workplace parking places, although these businesses/organisations will be required to apply for a license, they will receive a 100% discount from the charge. Those employers who provide 11 or more workplace parking places will be required to pay the charge for all of their parking spaces from the 1st April 2012, but importantly they must have a license by 1st October 2011. NHS move into St Nicholas Court under Barbara Henson’s Supervision.

Case Studies, Client Profile, Commercial Property, Exeid News, Nottingham, Office space, Parking, serviced office space
[caption id="attachment_412" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="St Nicholas Court"][/caption] Following the recent Government spending review the NHS have been ordered to reorganise and streamline their services  and find space for the NHS 'Rethink Project', Nottinghamshire Healthcare have been looking for a new site that met these  new requirements. The space needed to be  DDA compliant, modern and comfortable office space, whilst remaining within the financial budgetary restraints set by the review. A tall order  you might think, not with Exeid’s experience. In difficult economic  times many organisations  tend to migrate to the suburbs in a bid save on property prices, however, with travel economics as they are today there really isn’t much to be gained in this aproach.  In addition, organisations need to take into account the fact that the city centre  is the…

The Hour – The New Vintage Production by the BBC uses Exeid Lighting Partners Anglepoise to Create that Vintage Feel.

Commercial Property, Exeid News, Nottingham, serviced office space, Stanford House, Vintage Offices
The first episode of THE HOUR was shown on BBC1 this week and you can tell that the production team at the BBC have realised the interest in Vintage Retro style as most of the first episode was shot in a late 1950s office environment. One scene showed the two main characters discussing the merits of what they described as an Anglepoise lamp which Freddie Lyon,  played by Ben Whishaw, had bought for Bel Rowley, played by Romola Garai. Questioning the BBCs’ continuity, it appears that the lamp in question was not in fact an Anglepoise but more likely to be a Memlite. If anyone reading this can identify it, our lighting ‘nerd’ in the office would love to know. If you have an office and you want to get…

Interview with Richard Priestly MD of Exeid.com following the recent acquisition of St Nicholas Court a Commercial Office Property on Castle Gate Nottingham.

Commercial Property, Exeid News, Nottingham, Office space, Property Purchase, serviced office space
Six months on and we revisit Exeid.com and their latest office acquisition St Nicholas Court 25 to 27 Castle Gate, Nottingham. We talked with Managing Director Richard Priestley: So Richard, you acquired this building in the thick of what has been described as the most difficult trading conditions for 70 years in the commercial property sector. Was that a foolhardy or smart move and why? To be fair it was almost a bit of both. The property was first identified as a target by our CEO a few of years back. Basically, it was approximately 60% vacant but at that time the  requirement to pay “empty rates liability” had not kicked in so the price tag, whilst much higher than what was eventually paid, was almost justified. So why wasn’t…

Stanford House is one of Nottingham’s finest Georgian Mansions in the heart of the city and was built with a wonderful grand entrance hall accessed via the main entrance of Castle Gate. David Ajose, CEO of Exeid.com the boutique commercial property consultancy realised that this internal space of 11 metres by 4 metres was going to need some additional lighting throughout the day but he already had concerns over the traditional lights used.  We caught up with David  to find out how he resolved these issues. David said  “We wanted to illuminate the space in bright fresh way and we preferred up lighters in order to highlight the wonderful ceiling plasterwork and superb simplified Corinthian columns in this grand space.” “We already used up lighters in the meeting rooms of our…
