Position: Network Engineer / IT Manager
Location: Nottingham
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer who will be responsible for implementing and maintaining network infrastructure and communication equipment spanning multiple sites / cities. Our company is responsible for the management of multiple sites across cities, each location usually having more than a single point of incoming connectivity, this is then segmented uses equipment to control bandwidth allocation and traffic routing to multiple clients within each building. We supply VoIP services using a dedicated SIP platform, configuration and set up of all network infrastructure and VoIP equipment is handled in-house. IT support is currently not offered to clients however, is an opportunity of quick expansion for our company, we are seeking an individual with the drive and ambition to take this forward while managing our existing offered services effectively.
The successful candidate will be competent in all aspects of advanced network configurations and VoIP (sip). You will be part of a small team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures to ensure the smooth operation of communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for users.
CCNA / CCNP / CompTIA certifications highly valued, however not essential. Experience required.
In addition to connectivity monitoring and configuration for clients, you will also be responsible for monitoring the company’s own network / server and will therefore require experience with Microsoft Server OS and Exchange. This will include performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
Maintenance requests submitted by clients are handled using a ticketing system, you will be required to manage and prioritise requests whilst most importantly communicating closely with the end users with continued updates until resolved… this will require skills involving all tier levels 0-4 of tech support to resolve reported issues.
Other duties will include configuration and maintenance of access control systems, WiFi zoning, asset management, device (phone & computer) set-up and IT support for colleagues.
- Installing, supporting and maintaining new server hardware and software infrastructure;
- Managing email, anti-spam and virus protection;
- setting up user accounts, permissions and passwords;
- monitoring network usage;
- ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient use of servers;
- Suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and management problems;
- ensuring that all IT equipment complies with industry standards;
- analysing and resolving faults, ranging from a major system crash to a forgotten password;
- undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security, particularly if the network connects to the internet;
- providing training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence;
- supervising other staff, such as apprentices;
- working closely with other departments/organisations and collaborating with other IT staff;
- planning and implementing future IT developments and undertaking project work;
- managing the website and keeping internal networks running
